Small Consistent Steps

Three years ago, I made a decision to improve my communication skills ( public speaking to be precise). I went on YouTube search for the best videos I can find on how to speak like a pro. I devote my time to watching the videos and putting it into practice.

Just like anybody, I wanted to become a pro. So, I tried the technique for 3 hours straight but I was'nt getting any better. After rigorous practice, I quit. I was no longer Interested. I gave up.

My turning point however was when I came across two videos: one of Jim Rohn and the other of Omeagu. Both videos talk about process. Infact Omeagu said it best. He said: an outcome whose process you've not observed, you cannot sustain. Upon hearing that, I realise I was focus on an outcome not the process. I wanted result over night. I practice 3 hours for something that takes a decade to master. And that very moment changed everything.

After watching the video, I decided to practice. I schedule my practice time daily. I reduce the time to 5 minutes everyday and as process would have it, I began noticing changes. I must say though it was'nt easy. There were days I couldn't practice; but I never skip two days in a row. The result speaks for itself. I became better by the day.

The reason why I share this story is because small consistent steps compound. The reason Why they do is because they become habits. And habits are the compound interest of self improvement. Remember, small consistent steps compound! Peace.
